DND records a dip in car across count from border

The DND Flyway has recorded a 1% rise in the number of two-wheeler riders, while car users dropped by 6%, in the second round of odd-even experiment. The DND Flyway operator, Noida Toll Bridge Company Ltd (NTBCL), said the number of bikes on DND have increased by 264, while cars have dropped by 5,544.

NOIDA: The DND Flyway has recorded a 1% rise in the number of two-wheeler riders, while car users dropped by 6%, in the second round of odd-even experiment. The DND Flyway operator, Noida Toll Bridge Company Ltd (NTBCL), said the number of bikes on DND have increased by 264, while cars have dropped by 5,544.
The numbers are similar to the first round of the experiment, when the company had recorded a drop of around 5,000 vehicles daily .
However, while in January , the Flyway operator officials had said they recorded an increase in the number of vehicles crossing the Flyway before 8am and after 8pm -when the odd-even rules are not applicable -this time around, they said no such change in commuters' schedule has been recorded.
The DND Flyway registers around 1.20 lakh commuters on an average weekday . Of the total traffic, about 22% are twowheelers, while 77% are cars.The rest is heavy vehicles and buses. NTBCL spokesperson Anwar Abbasi said on an average day , the company records around 26,400 two-wheelers, which has increased to 26,664.“Car users make a big part of commuters on DND Flyway . On a normal weekday , we register about 92,400 cars. This has fallen by 6%,“ he said. He added that there is no significant change in the number of heavy vehicles, as they are exempt from the odd-even rule.
The actual daily fall in number of vehicles crossing DND, after the Delhi government's odd-even restrictions came into effect, is around 5,280.
