"After Uttar Pradesh, Odisha has a number of rivers. It is important to utilize the water for drinking, irrigation and power generation. Connectivity of the rivers is only way to reach this goal," said BJP state unit chief Basant Panda at Mohana in Gajapati district.

The yatra will continue till April 24 covering 17 districts and conclude in Keonjhar on April 24. He advocated connectivity of river Rushikulya-Mahanadi-Vansadhara, which was also demanded by his party colleague and former deputy speaker of the state assembly Ram Chandra Panda.
The project would tackle the drinking water crisis in Berhampur town and also solve the flood and drought situation in Ganjam, Gajapati and Nayagarh districts, said the former deputy speaker. "We have already presented a memorandum to Governor urging for his interference to solve the water crisis in the state he said. We will raise the issue of drinking water and health crisis in the state in the state assembly when it resumes from April 26, he added.
Apart from discussing the problems of people, we are creating awareness on various development and welfare programmes of the Narendra Modi government during their fortnight-long yatra, he said. Several senior BJP leaders, including secretary Bibhuti Jena accompanied Panda to Gajapati district.
