Vadodara: MS University students will no longer have to wait in long queues to register at Shrimati Hansa Mehta Library (HML). Very soon, membership registrations at HML will be a click away.
HML has already sent application to INFLIBNET for development in the existing utilities currently available to the users. In addition to this, an sms system that will notify the students on the issue of books will also be put in place.
Similarly, reminder will also be sent before the due date of returning the books.
Dr Mayank Trivedi, MSU librarian, said that based on the new system, students can apply for online library registration at HML website. "We hope to introduce this system in the forthcoming academic year as the application has been sent a month ago," he said.
Trivedi said that once the user fills up their personal and educational details, a receipt will be generated. The users will have to come in person to collect their library cards so as to avoid any kind of misuse.
"Every year, there is a delay in the allotment of permanent registration number (PRN) to the students. It has been observed that Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL) takes time to provide the unique id to the students. PRN registration is essential for library cards. But till the time students get their PRNs in the new system, they can get their books issued based on fee slips and id cards," Trivedi added.
The card will automatically get deactivated when a student completes his studies.
