The TMC’s list of 26 candidates for the Assembly elections released on Tuesday has only four former MLAs.
The party is contesting the election as part of the DMDK-PWF alliance after its bid to join hands with the AIADMK failed.
Even N.R. Rangarajan, one of the two sitting MLAs who threw their weight behind G.K. Vasan after he launched the TMC, has opted out of the race. Another MLA John Jacob, elected from Killiyur constituency, will re-enter the fray from there.
Former Vellore MLA C. Gnanasekaran will fight the election from Vaniyambadi constituency. A.S. Maheswari, M. Rajasekaran and O.R. Ramachandaran, also former MLAs, will contest from Madathukulam, Musiri and Cumbum constituencies respectively.
