A case has been booked against a man who impersonated a teacher and illegally evaluated SSLC mathematics answer scripts here on Tuesday.

Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) Kenche Gowda told The Hindu that Suresh Halappanavar, a teacher of the Government High School at Yenni Wadagera village in Surpur taluk of Yadgir district, was deployed for evaluation, but he did not turn up for the duty on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Mudnurmath, who was carrying the order copy issued in the name of Halappanavar, entered the evaluation centre, evaluated 20 answer sheets illegally and fled from the centre after Joint Chief Examiner Giridhar Kulkarni noticed him, the DDPI said. Following a complaint by Mr. Kulkarni, the Yadgir Town police registered case on the charges of impersonation and cheating against Mudnurmath and are looking for him.

The DDPI said a suspension order had been issued against Halappanavar on the charge of unauthorised absence from duty.
