Olympic boost for India Golf Expo

With Anirban Lahiri, S.S.P. Chawrasia and Aditi Ashok having virtually secured Olympic entries, golf is seeing great interest ahead of the annual India Golf Expo in Gurgaon over the next two days with 700 delegates in attendance.

Present will be representatives from 50 of India’s leading golf clubs, 40 top coaches, 40 superintendents and greens keepers who are the curators of the greens to try and create Olympic-like conditions for Indian players in future.

The Indian Golf Union, Indian Golf Industry Association, National Golf Academy of India, Golf Course Superintendents & Managers Association of India and other bodies will meet with the goal of creating better coaching standards, new golf course and practice ranges and world class playing conditions to help Indian golfers get closer to international standards.

The event will be inaugurated by Union sports secretary Rajiv Yadav, on Wednesday and on Thursday, Suman Billa, joint secretary of the Union tourism ministry will bring inputs on how to attract foreign tourists to India.
