Rathi Devta festival celebrated with fervour

MUSSOORIE: Devotees from far and wide offered prayers and alms at the Dhan Singh Rathi temple near Kandi Saud during the annual fair held today.

Mussoorie, April 19

Devotees from far and wide offered prayers and alms at the Dhan Singh Rathi temple near Kandi Saud during the annual fair held today.

Representatives of various political parties of the region also visited the fair and worshipped the local deity on the occasion.

Senior BJP leaders, including former MLA Gopal Rawat, Dobra Chanti Pul Banao Sangharsh Samiti chief coordinator Rajeshwar Prasad Painuli and others, said the fair, also called Thaulus, was a traditional way of keeping in touch with each other and exchange valuable knowledge. In the age of social media, the fairs were gradually losing their importance and therefore the need to continue such traditions was imperative as they were part of the heritage culture of the state, they said.—TNS
