Foxconn Subsidiary Said To Obtain License To Open Retail Outlets To Sell Apple Products In China

According to a report by DigiTimes, Foxconn Electronics, the giant electronics contract manufacturing company that is a key part of Apple Inc. AAPL's supply chain, is eyeing an expansion of its business to include retail stores in China.

DigiTimes, citing "industry sources," reported that Foxconn and its various subsidiaries are looking to expand its retail business to include retail stores across China. The company already operates an ecommerce platform, flnet.com and has also built several experimental shops in Chian and Taiwan.

Foxconn appears to be ready for a large physical channel. The company itself even suggested that this strategy "has been an important part" of a long-term development strategy and "related investment projects have been implemented accordingly."

DigiTimes also noted that one of Foxconn's subsidiaries has obtained the necessary licensing from Apple to sell the company's products in China.
