Woman Maoist killed in Gadhchiroli encounter

A woman Maoist commander of the outlawed Communist Party of India’s military wing the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) was killed in an encounter with the police in Gadchiroli district of eastern Maharashtra on Tuesday.

“A police team from Tadgaon police station in Bhamaragad division of Gadchiroli was out on an anti-Maoist operation in Bandenagar forest on Tuesday. At around 2 p.m., the Maoists opened indiscriminate fire on this team. The police team returned fire. The Maoists escaped from the spot of the encounter taking advantage of the thick forest. One dead body of a uniformed Maoist was recovered after searching the spot of the encounter,” informed Gadchiroli police in a press statement.

One SLR (Self Loading Rifle) and ammunition were also recovered from the spot of the encounter.
