How George And Amal Clooney Made A Contest-Winner’s Night At The Clinton Fundraiser

A fan of George Clooney recently had her dream come true when she entered to win a contest that involved meeting the Hollywood heartthrob and human rights activist at the fundraiser in support of Hillary Clinton and her presidential campaign.

Alisa Blair entered to win after receiving an email about the contest from the Clinton campaign, with the forethought that she could attend the lavish event with her husband and would be able to pay a visit to her daughter, Lauren, who is an actress, living in California.

The freelance writer and composer learned shortly after that she had, in fact, won the opportunity to mingle with the Clooneys. At finding out the details, she and her husband, Rob, a retired high school counselor, now landscaper, prepared for their trip from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, to California.

Alisa shares with People as to the excitement she and her family felt at discovering she had won, and quickly began making choices about what she should wear for the big event that was to involve mingling with George and Amal.

“Lauren and my daughter Leslie had a lot to say about what I would wear.”

The contest winner then declared that the event was “unforgettable and incredibly special.” Even attendees at the extravagant evening noted how spectacular the prize was that Alisa had won, since the price to attend the fundraiser alongside George and Amal Clooney, as well as the presidential hopeful, hit the 6-figure range and made headlines for the seemingly outrageous cost.

One attendee to the event was none other than Jane Fonda, who approached the couple and introduced herself. Blair relays the legend’s words after telling Fonda that they had won a contest to be there.

“You’re kidding. This was your prize? You mean I could have gotten in here without paying?”

The fundraiser gained criticism for the price, and Bernie Sanders made known that he was disgusted by the “obscene” cost to attend the event, as the Independent reminds.

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia di Rossi were then summoned by Fonda to meet the contest victors.

“Ellen was just hilarious, as always. [And Fonda] looked fantastic.”

Although the big ticket was about being in the presence of honored guests Amal and George Clooney, along with Clinton, the Blairs were reportedly most excited to meet Hollywood’s highest-paid actor, Jim Parsons of The Big Bang Theory.

“We are such Big Bang fans so right away I went over to take a picture with him. We’ve watched every single episode.”

Alisa and Rob were also promised 15 minutes to mingle with George and Amal as well as to chat with Hillary Clinton, a point in the evening that Blair recalls with fondness.

“I thought [Hillary] looked beautiful. She’s just so fresh and so gracious. I just wanted to hug her. That was my first instinct! We were very attuned to what her schedule has been over the past week. The debate, she did various roundtables, an event in San Francisco, all the news coverage. It’s amazing.”

Alisa continued to commend Hillary for her efforts and relay words from the former secretary of state about how she is pretty well like everyone else.

“All her staffers say she’s totally up to this. She’s just a super woman. And I kind of believe it, looking at her. We asked her how she was doing and what she does to refuel and she said, ‘I do like everybody else, I take a walk, I watch mindless movies to kick back.’ “

The Blairs then moved on to sharing what it was like to mingle with beautiful human rights barrister Amal Clooney and being greeted by George.

“Amal is the classiest person in the world, I think. That British thing, and she’s so intelligent, my gosh. And then George goes, ‘Hey, Pennsylvania!’ Just so fun-loving and a down-to-earth guy. I’m not sure if I kissed him or he kissed my cheek, but I said, ‘This is from several hundred women,’ or, what did I say?”

It sounds as though it was an evening that won’t soon be forgotten by the Blairs. It’s not everyday you get to cozy up to stars like the Clooneys.
