Smriti avenging Rahul's stand on Vemula: Cong
Bhopal: Politics over 13-year-old newspaper boy Kaushal Shakya's school admission intensified as state Congress on Monday called a press conference to clarify that the party followed instructions of AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi three years ago and tried sending the boy to school. Congress also claimed that Union minister Smriti Irani was seeking political mileage by getting Kaushal admitted in Central School.

"Three years ago, we took the boy for admission to Rajiv Gandhi Higher Secondary School in Trilanga. But the boy's father Dhuli Chand Shakya asked for a job for his elder son instead. We got the admission form for admission to class 6, but the boy didn't attend school even for a single day," said Congress leader Syed Sajid Ali, who was entrusted with the job of getting Kaushal admitted in a school.
According to state Congress spokesman KK Mishra, Dhuli Chand Shakya's demand for a job for his elder son Jugal Shakya was accepted. "He was given the job of a peon on a salary of Rs 4,000 per month plus Rs 1,000 as conveyance allowance," Mishra said showing the last payslip of March 2016. "Dhule Chand promised that instead of sending Kaushal to the school in Trilanga, he would send him to another school close to his home."
Kaushal Shakya, the dalit boy who now works in a cloth store in New Market area, is in the midst of a political war between AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi and Union HRD minister Smriti Irani. On April 25, 2013 Kaushal was selling newspapers in a busy thoroughfare in Bhopal when Rahul Gandhi, who was on an official visit was passing by.
