Gurgaon: In a year when the women's professional golf tour marks a decade, there's more female talent coming through at the grass-roots than at any time in the past.
According to Gurgaon girls Gaurika Bishnoi and Tvesa Malik, scores are improving year on year.
These two, along with Diksha Dagar, will be flying to Korea to represent India at the Queen Sirikit Cup, the most prestigious event for lady amateurs in the Asia-Pacific region.

Bishnoi, 17, and Malik, 20, are students at the city's DLF Golf Academy, both having honed their games under the guidance of the facility's head pro, Anitya Chand.
The trio made the cut following a five-day test of mind and body at the Classic Golf Resort, the challengingly undulating layout nestled in the Aravallis.
Malik opened the trials with a five-under 67, while Bishnoi shot three-under 69s on four of the days. Such scores were unheard of, even five years back. "This was I think the best ever performance at the trials. Not only were the players shooting low, they were scoring consistently," Malik told TOI.

Clearly, these girls aren't flying to Korea just to make up the numbers. "The fields are getting much wider," offered Bishnoi. "At the zonal (amateur) events on the national circuit, there are anywhere between 50 and 70 players teeing it up."
Bishnoi and Malik are keen on turning pro, but only when they're ready to take the step up. For now, the focus is on Korea. "Our team is pretty strong, good enough for a medal finish," believes Bishnoi, who is turning out in national colours for a third straight year.
The threesome would be hoping to better India's best result in the tournament, a fourth-place finish in 2011 (as hosts). That tournament, incidentally, marked the big-time debut of Aditi Ashok, today a gifted pro living her dream in Europe. There can be no more auspicious sign than that.
The 38th edition of the Queen Sirikit Cup will get under way on April 27, at the Ora Country Club in Jeju, Korea.
