Explosion in parked car

April 19, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST - MANGALURU:

There was a minor explosion in a car parked near Jogi Mutt at Kadri on Monday.

In a complaint filed with the Mangaluru East police, Maxwell Montero, a quarry owner, said that he was walking up to his vehicle along with his wife Sarita around noon after visiting the Jogi Mutt.

As he pressed the button to open the lock, there was a blast near the driver’s seat. Mr. Montero, who also runs a fleet of private buses, alleged that it was a bid to harm his life. Police personnel visited the spot.

They said that the vehicle had been parked near the Jogi Mutt since Sunday evening.

The police have sought the help of experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory in Bengaluru to examine the remnants of the explosive substance that looks like a detonator.

The team is expected to examine the vehicle on Tuesday.
