Rajkot: Former Bhavnagar mayor and Congress councillor Parul Trivedi was injured in a scuffle with police following a rally at the Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters over property tax issues on Monday evening. She has been hospitalized.
She was among hundreds of Congress workers who had carried out the ‘Jan Akrosh Rally' to BMC office over the complicated tax structure of the civic body and increase in property and water taxes.

As the rally reached BMC, officials there locked down the main gate as precautionary measure.
"Trivedi was allegedly manhandled by police following which she fell to the ground and sustained injuries. She was rushed to hospital for treatment," said a source.
"BMC has hiked water tax from Rs 900 to Rs 1,800 in February. Similarly, they also hiked tax on property and solid waste collection. Earlier, Bhavnagar observed bandh over tax issues. On Monday we carried out a rally over the same issue and received a good response," said Rajesh Joshi, president, Bhavnagar city Congress unit.
Interestingly, Labhu Katrodiya, brother-in-law of Gordhan Zadaphiya, also participated in the rally and voiced concern over the tax increase in Bhavnagar.
