The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probing the mysterious disappearance of Smitha George, a native of Eappally from Dubai, has approached the Ernakulam chief judicial magistrate court seeking its permission to conduct scientific tests on the suspects in the case.
Antony, the husband of the missing woman and a suspect in the case, on Monday submitted an application before the court seeking a directive to conduct the test in a time-bound manner. In his application, Antony stated that the crime branch of the State police, which probed the case earlier, had failed to conduct scientific tests in a time-bound manner in 2011.
The court is slated to consider his application on Thursday.
Meanwhile, official sources said Devayani, the key witness, had also submitted her consent to undergo scientific tests after the special crime branch of the CBI in Thiruvananthapuram sought the court’s approval to conduct a narcoanalysis, polygraph and brain mapping test on both Antony and Devayani.
The duo were arrested by the police crime branch, which had investigated the case earlier. The special crime investigation department (Dubai CID) is also probing the case in Dubai. Antony married Smitha in May 2005, following which the couple left for Dubai.
