The Zimbabwe Red Cross Society humanitarian ambassador Alick Macheso has urged artistes to contribute towards humanitarian works as a way of giving back to the community. The musician who was speaking at the sidelines of the commissioning of a water pipeline in Saba, Binga, said it was good that artistes give back to the community through different charity works.“We are the artistes and it is good that we give back to the community through different charity works. I want to thank the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society for taking me to do the work,” he said.

He said it was important to note that God rewards those who always help the need.

“The little that you give comes back in abundance because that is what the Bible says,” he said.

Speaking at the same function Matabeleland North Provincial Minister Cain Mathema said the collaboration of the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society and Zinwa to have the project is laudable.

“Such a coming together of minds and exemplary humanitarian synergy bear testimony to the good work we can achieve as a nation. With shared regard for the less privileged, Zimbabwe can become a better place for all,” he said.

He said it was good that Red Cross programmes were not imposed onto the community by the humanitarian organisation but are community owned.

“I am told the water challenges were identified by the community as a priority through a vulnerable capacity assessment and it is a component of the community actions as part of BRACES,” he added.

He said the Government was in full support of such noble humanitarian efforts and urged the local leadership and the community to work with players such as Zimbabwe Red Cross Society in fostering sustainable development.
