Pune: A kaleidoscope of various art forms beautifully crafted by the students of class IX and X of Vidya Valley School was on display at an exhibition recently.
The week-long maiden exhibition, titled 'Created with the heart, painted with the mind', was inaugurated by principal Nalini Sengupta and former art students from the school. Sengupta said, "We need to give importance to arts, particularly, in school.
Some youngsters feel it is a waste of time. They do not realise the multi-level skill of artists, including observation, ability to express feelings and connecting with the viewers through paint."
The exhibition covered a wide range of subjects from nature drawings, portraits, landscapes, still life, sketches to typography and monotone paintings among others.
Apart from miniature, graffiti and modern art forms, students also drew references from legendary artists like Dinanath Dalal and illustrator Mario Miranda. Head of the arts department, Alaknanda Nalawade with facilitators Pallavi Dantale, Aditi Deo and Shubhangi More guided the students.
Anjali Jhunja of class IX said, "It was challenging. We needed to think from the audience's perspective and what would appeal to them. We researched different art forms, experimented with new mediums that we hadn't used before."
