Film-maker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra has spent the past winter shooting his next film, Mirziya, across Jodhpur, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Mandawa and Ladakh. “For Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, I spent almost a month scouting villages in Punjab,” he says. Mehra has been spotted at film festivals in Ladakh, Venice and Cannes. But the travels he really enjoys are when he delivers lectures to students. “I love interacting with students to get a sense of what young people are thinking about.” And how does he spend his downtime in a new place? “I like exploring areas on foot. And I really enjoy experimenting with street food.” Favourite destinations: “Ladakh, which I can never get enough of, and Tokyo. One of my life goals is to eat at every restaurant in Tokyo. I’ve covered 10% so far.”
