GUWAHATI: The Arunachal BJP will discuss the issue of joining the Kalikho Pul ministry with its central leadership. The central leadership of the party was averse to BJP MLAs joining the state government. “Some MLAs are willing to be part of the government.
I am going to discuss the same with the central leadership of the party. It has never opposed BJP joining the government. However, there is some technical hitch that is going to be cleared very soon,” BJP state president Tapir Gao told ET He said that Arunachal will have a BJP-led government.

“When and how I cannot say it right now.” It’s almost after 13 years that the BJP will be making a comeback in the state. Then chief minister Gegong Apang and his supporting MLAs had merged their party with the BJP, making Arunachal Pradesh a BJPruled state.

In the house of 60, where two members are suspended, Pul has support of 30 Congress rebels, two independents and 11 BJP MLA. Congress had accused the BJP of toppling the Nabam Tuki-led government to capture power in the state.

Reacting to the state BJP chief’s remark, Nabam Tuki said that the true colours of BJP was now coming out. “Earlier they said that whatever is happening in Arunachal was an internal problem of the Congress and BJP had nothing to do with it. However now they say there will be BJP-led government. As BJP cannot win the elections, they try to grab power by money and manipulation.

BJP has no faith in democracy. BJP is devoid of any vision.” Tuki was dismissed after the state governor in his report talked of collapse of law and order and constitutional mechanism. The state Speaker had disqualified some Congress rebels — which was ruled invalid by the Gauhati high court later — while the governor in an unprecedented move advanced the assembly session on his own.

The verdict on Tuki’s petition challenging this action remains reserved by the Supreme Court even now. The rebels later formed an alternate government with the support of BJP.
