Transition Networks Debuts 40Gbps Quad Small Form Factor Pluggable (QSFP+) at DatacenterDynamics Enterprise Conference

Company Executive to Speak on Data Center Connectivity and Service Assurance

MINNEAPOLIS--()--Transition Networks, Inc., a leading provider of innovative, high-value data network integration solutions, today announced its new 40G quad small form factor pluggable (QSFP+) optical transceivers designed for high growth 40G Ethernet networks.

The Transition Networks TN-QSFP-40G-xx series of 40G QSFP+ optical transceivers are designed to install in any QSFP+ port allowing for 40GBase-X interfaces to the network through the QSFP+ connector. The TN-QSFP-40G-xx transceivers are built for bi-directional serial-optical data communication such as 40G Ethernet, allowing network managers to cost-effectively upgrade their enterprise networks to accommodate newer, more data-intensive services.

The TN-QSFP-40G-xx series features 4 channels with up to 11.1 Gb/s per channel, a maximum link length of 400m on OM4 multimode fiber or 30km over single mode fiber and a hot-swappable 40G transceiver that plugs into a QSFP+ port. The series supports SFF-8436 digital diagnostic monitoring interface (DMI) and is compatible with Cisco switches and routers as well as their IOS.

Applications of the TN-QSFP-40G-xx series include 40GBase-X Ethernet, breakout to 10GBase-X Ethernet, data center aggregation and backplane applications, and datacom/telecom switch and router connections.

“Existing 1G/10G infrastructures are not able to meet the rising demand of the higher data rates being driven by virtualization, big data, cloud services and convergence. This demand is necessitating 40G fiber networking which SFP has become the standard for cost effective service turn-up,” said Tony LeFebvre, Director of Product Management for Transition Networks. “The addition of TN-QSFP-40G-xx to our extensive SFP portfolio demonstrates Transition Networks’ continued commitment to providing reliable, cost effective and high performance networking products with the dedicated service and support our customers have come to expect..”

DatacenterDynamics Enterprise Activity

Transition Networks will display the 40G QSFP+ solution in its booth #113 at the DatacenterDynamics Enterprise conference, happening April 19-20 at the New York Marriott Marquis in New York City.

Also featured at the Transition Networks’ booth will be its ION Platform, the multi-service integration platform that offers a high-density, flexible solution for integrating, optimizing and navigating networks. Designed for core network applications, the ION Platform provides the secure network management of fiber interface points required for both carrier-class and enterprise-class services.

In addition, Transition Networks will display its new Smart Gigabit small form factor pluggable (SFP) optical modules with built-in optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) technology that can detect fiber breaks to dramatically simplify network repairs.

On Tuesday, April 19, Tony LeFebvre will present “Data Center Connectivity and Service Assurance” at 2:15 pm local time at the Solution Stage located in the center of the expo hall.

The DatacenterDynamics Enterprise conference brings together more than 2,000 professionals and covers the full ecosystem for how enterprise data centers are being re-defined and how the economics of digital business, IT and data center service delivery is being re-shaped.
