Kanpur: School belonging to local BJP MLA evacuated following a bomb threat call
KANPUR: The authorities ordered the evacuation of Saraswati Vidhya Mandir School belonging to local BJP MLA and located in Chakeri area of the City following a bomb threat call on Monday.
SSP Shalabh Mathur instructed Station House officer of Chakeri, who along with a police team rushed to the spot and launched a massive checking drive on the premises of school.
A bomb disposal and a dog squad was also immediately summoned to the School. All students and teaching staff were safely evacuated by the authorities.
The Police informed that threat call to BJP MLA from district's Maharajpur assembly constituency Satish Mahana, who is the owner of Saraswati Vidhya Mandir School located in Chakeri area of the City, turned out to be hoax as except a recovery of an empty tin container nothing suspicious was found after thorough checking.
"Students were evacuated from the School after an anonymous caller from a mobile no: 7309227179 threatened BJP MLA Satish Mahana saying that there was a bomb in the school’s premises at around 9 am on Monday. The MLA immediately apprised us about the threat call following which an anti-sabotage check under the supervision of SHO Chakeri was conducted to trace if there was any explosive device hidden in the school premises. It later turned out to be a hoax call. However, an empty tin container recovered from the bushes was sent to laboratory for forensic test. Situation is said to be normal now and there is no need to panic," said SSP Shalabh Mathur.
The police is now trying to determine who made the hoax call and from where.
Meanwhile, after coming across the news, the parents and guardians assembled in front of the school gates and inquired about the well being of their wards from authorities.
