Man held with 8kg of ganja at Maranallur

Thiruvananthapuram: Excise enforcement and anti-narcotics special squad seized 8kg of ganja from two men at Maranallur on Sunday. The squad arrested Rajesh R (27), a resident of Chenniyodu, Kattakada, while the other person Sabu escaped.
The officials intercepted the duo travelling on motorbikes following a tip off. Their bikes were also seized. The officials said that search was on for Sabu.Circle inspector T Anikumar said that Rajesh was accused in many criminal cases.
"They were trying to transport ganja to small-scale vendors in the city. Rajesh is being interrogated,"said Anikumar. Excise inspector V Shabu, preventive officer V Anilkumar, civil excise officers Jaseem,Krishnaprasad,Unnikrishnan Nair,S Anilkumar, B Vijayakumar and T D Prasad were part of the special squad.
The squad had seized 9.5kg ganja and three bikes in March. tnn
