Three held for stabbing man

Police arrested three persons in connection with stabbing a man during an extortion attempt near Periyar Bus terminal at around 12.30 am on Sunday. Police said V Kamalakannan, 18, of Pasingapuram, S Prasanth, 19, of Sellur and V Saravanakumar, 19, of Keelavaidhiyanathapuram, attempted to extort money from Veerasamy, a worker in a reputed lodge in the area.When he refused to give money, they stabbed him.
DMK changes its
Sholavandan candidate: DMK party has changed its party's assembly election candidate for Sholavandan constituency. Earlier, Sripriya Thenmozhi was the constituency's candidate. Now, C Bhavani has been announced as the candidate.
Six injured in road
accident: Six persons were injured in a road accident near Tiruppuvanam in Sivaganga district on Sunday noon. A crane, which was coming from T Pannankulam village, hit a TNSTC travelling from Paramakudi. Four passengers – Sindhuja, 24, Thamaraiselvi, 25, Gandhi, 42, and Anjalidevi, 50. Two more persons who were travelling on a two-wheeler was also injured.
Family booked for
cheating woman: Usilampatti all women police booked three persons of a family for cheating a woman. Police said Raniammal, a divorcee, was in a relationship with Sathishkumar, 27, son of Pandi, with the promise of marryinf her. But she found out that his family members were arranging his marriage with another woman.
