MANSEHRA: The district administration with the support of local lawmakers would boost standard of education in government schools in the district.

The decision in this regard was taken in a meeting attended by district nazim Sardar Said Ghulam, MPAs Saleh Mohammad Khan, Sardar Zahoor and Ziaur Rehman, district education officer Nisar Ahmad and representatives of other departments.

“We want to bring education standard at public sector institutions at par with the private schools,” Mr Ghulam told the meeting. He said that the government schools in the district would be provided with all basic infrastructure, facilities and expertise so that their students could compete with students of private schools in examinations.

Speaking on the occasion, MPA Saleh Mohammad said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government should make sure that schools destroyed in the devastating earthquake some 11 years ago were included in the reconstruction policy.

Says committed to uplifting standard of education in govt schools

“Until schools destroyed in the 2005 earthquake are reconstructed we cannot provide good education to the students and the government should immediately ensure availability of funds for the purpose,” he said.

He said that shortage of science teachers in girls schools was also a big hurdle in improving the state of education and the government should fill the vacant posts in the district.

The DEO said that the education department was doing its best to bring more and more children to schools through campaigns launched with the start of academic year in the district.

SEMINARIES ROLE: Senate deputy chairman and JUI-F leader, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidri, has said that seminaries are making a great contribution to the prosperity of the country.

“Over 50,000 students are passing out from seminaries across country every year and contributing to the prosperity of country, but even then our interior minister links these castles of Islam with militancy,” Mr Haidri told a gathering in Jiamera area of district here on Sunday.

He said that unity of the religious parties was need of hour to pull the country out of current challenges. He said that seminaries were only propagating the teachings of Islam and never remained involved in terrorism.
