Irina Falconi battled to a first WTA title at the Claro Open Colsanitas and became the first American woman to win the tournament with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 dismissal of Sílvia Soler-Espinosa.
The No 5 seed fought back from a break down in the final set to prevail, and break the Spaniard's heart.
World number 170 Soler-Espinosa was also chasing a breakthrough WTA triumph in Bogota after beating Brazilian Paula Cristina Goncalves 6-4 6-7 (4/7) 6-2 in the semis.
Falconi had dumped out in-form Lara Arruabarrena 6-3 4-6 6-2 in her last-four clash.
She could now rise back up to the world top 70, close to her career-high of 64.
