City artisans cast a mythological spell on Ram Navam

City artisans cast a mythological spell on Ram Navam
Various idols will be displayed at various tableaus as part of the grand Ram Navami shobha yatra that will begin from Ram Poddareshwar Temple, Central Avenue, today evening. And as artisans have toiled hard to build these murtis, we give you a glimpse of their stunning creations.
This year, the procession will have idols depicting various stories from Ramayana in tableaus.
One of the artisans Amit Bhagat from Chitar Oli, shares, “We have made Lord Shiva’s Mahakaal avatar this year along with statues of Lord Ram, Sita, Laxman and Hanuman. We also have prepared a huge idol of Ravan. Generally in tableaus, Ravan is kept in the background but this huge murti will definitely garner a lot of attention. Interestingly, we finished making this idol in just three days.”
Another murtikar, Nilesh Mahurkar, too has an interesting detail to share. He says, “After working day and night for a month, we have finally made a huge murti of Lord Hanuman carrying Sanjeevani booti and a parvat. They are installed on a 20 ft trolley. The lighting is strategically placed on the parvat and around the trolley to highlight the beauty of the idols.”
Taking creativity to next level, Ashok Vishwakarma has made statues of Lord Ram and Sita sitting on a swing. He elaborates, “We have prepared the Virat roop of Lord Ram. As we had to stick to the theme of various chapters of Lord Ram’s life, we have subtly conveyed the message of equality by making small statues of Hindu, Muslim, Sikh and Christian men and women standing together.”
