Vice-Chairman, J & K State Advisory Board for Development of Kissans’, Daljeet Singh Chib, today flagged off a group of 33 farmers from different districts of Jammu division to attend 7 day training programme under Prime Ministers Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) at Punjab Agriculture University (PAU), Ludhiana (Punjab).The visit is being organized by the department of Agriculture under training component of the Sub-Mission for Agriculture Extension (SMAE).Interacting with the farmers, the Vice-Chairman referred to the “Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday Abhiyan” envisaged by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi under which awareness generation about various Centrally Sponsored Development Programmes is desired at village and panchayat level for benefit of farmers. 

He said that the department is adopting various key Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) like Soil Health Card Scheme (SHCS), PMFBY, PMKSY, NFSM, NMSA etc envisaged for the betterment of farming community. He said this training programme has a specific objective of imparting advanced knowledge in irrigation management and soil and moisture conservation under PMKSY.He asked the farmers to learn new techniques during the visit and also share these with other farmers about these technologies. He said that farmers should go for production of commercial and cash crops to improve their income.

Director Agriculture Jammu Dr S. S. Jamwal, said that the training will give farmers an overview of various technologies of irrigation and moisture conservation and growing less water consuming crops. The training will also educate the farmers with latest precision water application devices like drips, sprinklers etc to produce more crop per drop.Joint Director Agriculture Extension Sh A. K. Malhotra also spoke on the occasion.The farmers were provided information pamphlets under “Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday Abhiyan” highlighting various schemes under implementation for the farmers.
