Three held for attempt to kill former corporator

Nashik: Police have arrested Pranav Borase, a history-sheeter from the Ambad area, and two others on the charge of trying to murder former Shiv Sena corporator Dileep Datir near Mayur Hospital, Mauli Lawns, Ambad on Friday night.
According to the Ambad police, the main accused, Borse, had intercepted the vehicle of the former Sena corporator near Mauli Lawns and initially broke its windshield with a stone and then used a sharp heavy weapon to break the other glasses of the vehicle.
The police said Borase also fired a round from a country made pistol at Datir. The other two - Bala Kapadnis and Dipak Nikam - were arrested for their involvement in the case.
Police officials said Datir only managed to save himself from the attack by showing presence of mind. Soon after the police got information about the attempted murder, they rushed to the spot where the incident had occurred.
As many as nine police vans started chasing Borse, who escaped the scene in a car. Borse was finally arrested in the Pathardi Phata area.
A t the age of 24, Borse already had 24 criminal cases registered against him in the past, of which 21 cases have been registered in the Ambad police station, one registered in Satpur, one in Indiranagar and one in Ahawa police station in Gujrat. Most of the cases are related to thefts, robbery and two cases of murder.
The accused has also been arrested under the Mahashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act (MPDA) in the past.
The police is investigating the matter further.
