VARANASI: Union home minister Rajnath Singh said that BJP-led NDA govt may execute former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s plan of linking rivers to solve water crisis being faced in different parts of the country at present.
Rajnath was in Mirzapur on Saturday to offer prayer at Vindhyachal temple. Later, during a brief chat with reporters he spoke about the water crisis being faced in Bundelhkhand, Maharashtra and other parts of the country.
He said, “Government is monitoring all these areas. The government is working on this front by keeping the plans of Vajpayee and also the technique of recharging the ponds and water bodies with natural water to avoid this problem in future.”
Regarding bringing the body of a Mirzapur youth, who had died in Angola four days back, he said that the matter was brought to his knowledge and he would try to make necessary arrangements in this direction. Rajnath also said that in view of recent incident of death of another Indian in Lahore jail of Pakistan the ministry of external affairs is continuing talks with Pak officials.
About BJP’s plan of projecting a face as chief ministerial candidate in view of 2017 UP elections Rajnath said, some dedicated party worker would become the next CM of UP.
