Congress expels four rebel leaders for 6 years

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Surendran said the Congress candidates Raghesh and Abdul Khader had earlier threatened to contest against the UDF candidates in Azhikode constituency and Irikkur constituency respectively in the assembly elections slated for May 16 in Kerala. The other two Youth Congress(YC) activists were Kayakool Rahul, YC Azhikode consitutency Mandalam president and V Pradeep Kumar.
The DCC President said the party had taken steps to sort out the issues amicably, and the Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, too, intervened and promised to redress the ventilated grievances of the dissident leader Raghesh. However, the party found some of the illegitimate demands made by him, including the removal of the Deputy Mayor C Sameer, was unjustifiable.
He also said the expelled leaders had called for conventions in various places in the state and announced that they would field rebel candidates against UDF at Azhikode, Kannur and Irrikkur, three sitting constituencies of UDF in the district.
