Man dies in accident at Ponda

Adarsh Prakash Hegde, a 25-year-old civil contractor from Karnataka, was crushed to death by a speeding tanker on the Dhavali-Farmagudi bypass, on the outskirts of Ponda, on Friday morning.

Ponda: Adarsh Prakash Hegde, a 25-year-old civil contractor from Karnataka, was crushed to death by a speeding tanker on the Dhavali-Farmagudi bypass, on the outskirts of Ponda, on Friday morning.
Ponda police said it couldn't be ascertained where Hegde was travelling to at the time of the accident.
Hegde, a native of Chitradurga, Karntaka, who resided at Dhavali, had been working for a private construction firm at Ponda.

His body was sent to the Goa medical college (GMC) and hospital, Bambolim, for a postmortem examination.
Police have seized the tanker responsible for the accident and have arrested its driver, Nilu Talarnkar, 48, from Colvale, under Sections 279 and 304 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). He was later released on bail.
While Ponda police sub-inspector (PSI) Pritesh Madgaonkar lodged a complaint in the matter on behalf of the state, PSI Girish Padloskar has been appointed as the investigating officer.
