Ahmedabad: Jayesh H Modi of Modi Associates was on Friday chosen as the new president of Karnavati Club. The three-member committee formed by the club's board to choose the next president chose Modi's name as consensus candidate.
Since the elections held on March 31, the club board could not decide on the new president due to disagreement among the directors.
Members Power Panel (MPP) had won all the 23 seats in the election held last month. With earlier seven seats won by the MPP, all the 30 board members are of the same panel. Yet, they were unable to reach a consensus on the name of the new president. Modi had won elections in August last year.
Dr Ashish Desai was chosen as the vice-president and Kamlesh C Patel as the new secretary. Ketan B Patel and Vijay Mehta were finalized for the two posts of joint secretary.
The club's board on Wednesday had empowered Jagdish Patel, head of the MPP and president of Rajpath Club, Ajay H Patel and N G Patel to decide on the club president. Both Ajay Patel and N G Patel are directors in the club's board.
The club's founder members - Bhalabhai Patel and Trilok Parikh along with Rakesh Patel - were appointed as co-opt directors.
In the last year elections in August, after his panel lost all the seven seats, Girish Dani had resigned from the post of the president after serving for 15 years. N G Patel was made the president by the then board members.
On taking charge, Modi thanked Jagdish Patel and Ajay H Patel. Jagdish Patel said that since N G Patel remains unwell, he proposed the name of Modi which was seconded by all.
