Sitarama Kalyanam was performed at the 600-year-old Sri Ramalayam at Sriramagiri Kshetram on the banks of the Sabari in Vara Ramachandrapuram in East Godavari district on Friday. Tribal people from different villages of V.R. Puram, Koonavaram, Velerupadu, Chinturu and Kukkunuru have thronged the temple from early hours of the day to witness the Kalyanam.

“Till now, people of above mandals used to attend Sri Rama Kalyanam at Bhadrachalam,” said Padala Lakshmi, Dwcra member and member of the temple.

Sri Srinivasacharylu, one of the priests of the temple, said that this place was sacred as the Sabari merges with the Godavari. He said that there was a need to develop this temple on par with Bhadrachalam and Ontimitta.

Gollalamamidada temple

The festival was celebrated in a grand manner at the Sri Kodanda Rama temple in Gollalamamidada of Pedapudi mandal.
