Nine-day festival: Mata Mansa Devi temple board collects Rs 1.44 crore donations during Navratras

This year, devotees donated a large number of jewellery items, utensils and electrical items apart from cash. More than 1,192 items of silver and 56 items of gold were also donated by the devotees at the shrine.

Among other things donated by the devotees are utensils, fans, lights, wall clocks, ghee containers and foreign currency notes.

An amount of Rs 12.74 lakh was donated on the first day. However, the maximum donations were received on April 14, the eighth day of the festival, celebrated as Ashtmi. The total donations received on the eighth day was Rs 22.44 lakh.

“The last two days of the Navratras record the maximum turnout of devotees. An amount of Rs 42,59 lakh was received on the last two days of the festival at the temple,” said V G Goel, chairman, Mata Mansa Devi Shrine Board.

The devotees came in large numbers to pay obeisance at the Mata Mansa Devi and Kali Mata temples during the nine-day festival, which started on April 8.

This year, singers Anup Jalota and Anuradha Paudwal were also invited to the festival.
