Nine–day long Navratra festival culminates with Kanjak Poojan, immersion of Saakh

JAMMU, Apr 15: Nine-day long Navratra festival culminated today with the Kanjak -Poojan and immersion of Saakh by devotees in various rivers and canals across the Jammu region.
A large number of devotees were seen on the bank of river Tawi near Bikram Chowk and Har ki Pouri near Bahu Fort here for immersion of Saakh. They performed traditional pooja before immersing the Saakh in water which was sown on the first day of Navratra and worshiped during the last nine days.
The immersion of Saakh was made after performing the Kanjak Poojan by the devotees today. This was followed by serving of prashad.
The beeline of devotees was seen on the banks of Ranbir canal right from Akhnoor to canal road here and other places for immersion of Saakh today.
There was also a heavy rush of devotees on the banks of river Chenab in Akhnoor who had assembled there for immersion of Saakh marking the culmination of nine day long Navratra festival.
During the nine -days of the festival the nine forms of Goddess Durga are being worshiped by the devotees during the nine days. The festival concludes with Kanjak- Poojan and immersion of Saakh. The devotees keep fast for nine days to please the Goddess Durga and invoke her blessings.
Reports reaching here from other towns said that devotees were seen busy from early in the morning on the banks of rivers and canals for immersing Saakh to mark the culmination of Navdurga festival.
At Kathua devotees immersed the Saakh in Kathua and Ravi canals  as well as  Ravi river  while in Samba the devotees were also busy in immersion of Saakh in river Basantar and Devika after performing the Kanjak poojan. Besides thousands of devotees performed darshan in various shrines including Sukrala Mata temple Billawar during the festival.
About 10,000 pilgrims also performed darshan at Kol Kandoli Temple Nagrota which is known as Pehla darshan of Mata Vaishno Devi. The authorities had made elaborate security arrangements for the pilgrims.
Meanwhile, the celebration of nine -day long Navdurga festival culminated in various Ashrams and temples today with solemnization of Maha Yagyas and holding of Pooja Archana.
Eight -day long spiritual activity was organized by Bhagawaan Gopinathji Trust at Bhagawaan Ji’s Udaywala, Bohri Ashram near here.  Thousands of devotees thronged the Ashram during these days and it was gratifying to watch the devotees participating in the spiritual activities in a spirit of true devotion and humility.
The hawan started on the evening of April 7 and Puranahuti was offered this afternoon. A large number of devotes attended the function and recitation of 15 million mantras during these auspicious days for invoking the blessings of mother Goddess. The special prayers were offered to Bhagawaanji. This was followed by serving of prashad to devotees.
The nine –day long Navratra festival culminated with Maha Yagya at Sharika Peeth Sanastha Koshur Bhawan, Subash Nagar, Jammu. A large number of devotees participated in the Maha Yagya and after Puranahuti the prashad was served to devotees.
Navratra was celebrated with great zeal and devotion in Pushkara Swami Sewa Ashram Laxmi Puram Chinore in which a large number of devotees took part.
The Kanya Pujan and Pushpa Archana were performed on Ashtami and Navmi respectively. The flag hoisting was also performed by Swami Kumar Ji of Geeta Satsang Ashram Muthi.
The Nine -day long Navratra festival was celebrated at Swami Kumar Ji  Geeta Satsang Ashram Muthi. A large number of devotees took part in the celebrations during the nine days. The Pushparchana was performed by Swami Ji daily and he also gave religious discourses highlighting the significance of nine days of festival. He also made an appeal to displaced people to unite. The function was today attended by T N Kaul president Muthi Camp, Kundan Kashmiri president KPC and Om Laj among others.
In connection of Navratra festival Pushparchana and Hawan was performed by Bhai Ji (Prof A K Ogra) a religious scholar here today. After the Puranahuti the devotees were served with Prashad.  Prof Ogra also highlighted the importance and religious significance of Navratra festival as per Hindu mythology.
A Mahayagya on the occasion of Navratra festival was performed at K P Sabha Udhampur today in which a large number of devotees took part. They were served with prashad after Puranahuti. The Hawan started yesterday and puranahuti was performed this afternoon.
The Ramnavmi Hawan was performed with full religious fervour in Shree Ram Krishna Mahasammelan Ashram (SRMA) Nagdandi Achabal, in South Kashmir district of Anantnag. The Hawan started yesterday evening and Puranahuti was performed this after noon.  The devotees were later served with prashad.
A large number of devotees from different parts of Kashmir attended the function and participated in bhajan Kirtan also.
