Dehradun, April 15

A delegation of disciples of Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati of Jyotishpeeth and Dwarka Shardapeeth met Governor KK Paul at Raj Bhavan here today.

The delegation submitted a memorandum to the Governor requesting him to restore the samadhi of Adi Shankaracharya at the Kedarnath shrine.

The samadhi area has been under the debris of the devastation caused due to the 2013 natural disaster.

They said restoration of the samadhi was not included in the reconstruction and restoration works after the calamity. The Governor assured the delegation of looking into the matter at the earliest.

Swami Avimukteshwaranand, Sadashiv Brahmanand Saraswati, Shrawananand Brahmachari and Brahmchari Raamanand were part of the delegation.
