Navratras end with Kanya Puja

The nine-day festival of Chaitra Navratri concluded with Kanya Puja here today.
Devotees offered prayers to deity Navam Siddhidatri at temples and houses and ended their fast after performing Kanya Puja. Girl children are offered food and other items under Kanya Puja.
Several women performed Kanya Puja on the occasion of Ashtami yesterday. Since early morning girls were worshiped at households and temples. People, after taking a dip in the Ganga, worshipped Goddess Durga and made offerings to five, seven or nine girls, according to their convenience.
Serpentine queues were seen at the shrines of Mansa Devi, Chandi Devi, Maya Devi, Dakshin Kali Peeth, Vaishno Devi, Sheetla Devi, Shakumbhari Devi, Makarwani Ganga Mandir, Sri Daksheswar Mahadev, Sri Bilkeshwar Mahadev and other temples.
