Political bigwigs and other VIPs attending the ANC’s Local Government Elections Manifesto‚ will be well catered for.

Brenda Molefe of Sorte Source‚ an events company based in Johannesburg‚ said they were hosting events at Newscafe in Summerstrand on Port Elizabeth's beachfront strip on Friday and Saturday nights.

“We are offering the Manifesto Weekend Packages to the value of up to R25‚000. This is a table fee‚ which means you buy a package in order to get a table‚” Molefe said.

The packages cater for six people‚ Molefe said.

  • Package 1 costs R15‚000 and includes: 1x Belvedere Vodka‚ 2x Moet and Chandon‚ 1x year old Glenlivet‚ 1x 18 year old Chivas Regal and one platter.
  • Package 2 is R25‚000 and has: 2x Belvedere Vodka‚ 4 bottles of Moet and Chandon‚ 2x 18 year old Glenlivet‚ 1x 18-year-old Chivas Regal‚ mixers and 2x food platters.

Molefe said they also had "cheaper" packages available at R5‚000 and R10‚000 with less offerings.

The idea behind the packages‚ a concept Sorte Source has used in Johannesburg‚ is to cater for VIPs according to Molefe.

“We know the ministers are around and after a hectic schedule‚ they will want to relax.”

Molefe said they previously had a table that spent R250‚000 on alcohol at one of their events in Sandton.

While some venues do not have any planned events for the weekend‚ they are expecting a good turnout of revellers.

Isaac Matho‚ manager at Gondwana club in Humewood‚ said they were expecting the ANC Youth League on Friday and Saturday.

Matho said a number of artists are billed to perform at the youth league’s after-party on Saturday. These include hip hop artists Ricky Rick and Major League.

On Wednesday‚ members of the youth league were spotted at the venue‚ Matho said.

“Ten people came at around 2.30am and they ordered alcohol worth around R4‚000-R5‚000‚” Matho said.
