MG Parameswaran, fondly referred to as Ambi and best known for his long stint at FCB Ulka Advertising, Mumbai, is expected to shortly launch a brand advisory firm, called Brand-Building. The advertising and marketing expert has introduced his firm's website, Brand-Building.com, through his Facebook status.

Ambi couldn't be reached for a comment, but it was learnt from sources close to the initiative that Thursday was technically the first day of the outfit. The project is believed to be in its final stages and both partners and clients are being finalized before the formal launch.

The new firm will serve the larger brand building community in India. It will be a platform for coaching and mentoring on a whole range of brand building issues, like brand strategy (planning the market mapping programme, brand development, marketing planning and marketing execution) and marketing communication strategy (strategies for integrated marketing communication, copy platform, media strategy, media investments and monitoring progress).

The firm will also offer start-up advisory. It will help young start-ups identify the right business segment to tap and put in place a monitoring system to study progress. It will offer coaching in brand management and help improve the marketing quotient of brand marketing teams through a series of interventions, including training programmes, monthly interactions and guiding the marketing plan and implementation process and preparation of brand plans.

Ambi has played key roles in many significant organizations, like Rediffusion Y&R Advertising, Boots Company, UDI Yellow Pages and FCB Ulka Advertising. He has been involved in the building of brands like Tata Indica, Santoor, TCS, Digene, Tropicana, Sundrop, Zee TV, Tata Indigo, Sunfeast, Chandrika, Brufen, Wipro and Thermax, among others.

Ambi has over 35 years of experience in marketing, sales and advertising, spread across his stints at various organizations. He spent a major part of his career - spanning close to two decades - at FCB Ulka Advertising, Mumbai. Ambi was CEO and Executive Director of the agency between 2003 and 2013 and an Advisor from 2013 to 2016.

Ambi is an alumnus of IIT Madras and an honour roll graduate of IIM, Calcutta. He has a PhD from Mumbai University and has also done an Advanced Management Programme from the Harvard Business School. Ambi has created marketing plans, monitoring systems and mentoring programmes for a wide spectrum of companies in sectors like fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), services, pharmaceuticals and automotive. He is an Independent Director on the boards of Galaxy Surfactants Ltd. and Real Image Media Technologies Ltd. He is a recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award from IIT Madras and a member of the Board of Governors of IIM, Calcutta.
