Allama Prabhu will be different from other films on Vachana Saints – like Basavanna, Honnapa Bhagavatar’s Basaveshvara and more – in not just in the use of classical music but also in mirroring the 12{+t}{+h}century era, along with the right kind of re-creations in sets, property, costume and researched lyrical flow in music, says director T.S. Nagabharana.
“We had to re-imagine a time when Basavanna’s Anubhava Mantapa (or the ancient Parliament of the decision makers) had Allama as the speaker.
It is a musical journey of how young Alliah becomes the revered saint Allama Prabhu,” he says.
Mr. Nagabharana zeroed-in on Bapu Padmanabha for his deeply entrenched traditional and meditative sensibilities that the historical demands, apart from Bapu being well-versed in classical streams of Hindustani and Carnatic. Mr. Padmanabha’s albums on Meditative Music are often gifted to foreign dignitaries by the Ministry of External Affairs.
He has scored music for several ad jingles.
