Pramod Madhwaraj, MLA, on Thursday flagged off the ‘Ambedkar Habba – Jai Bheem’ vehicle jatha organised by the Karantaka Dalit Sangharsha Samithi (DSS) in front of Clock Tower here.

Mr. Madhwaraj said Dr. Ambedkargave voice to the voiceless. He strove to uplift the weaker sections of the society that had been oppressed for centuries. “It is the duty of every Indian to understand the services and achievements of Dr. Ambedkar. We should follow his ideals at all times,” he said.

Jayan Malpe, convener of district unit of DSS, said the importance of Dr. Ambedkar was being realised by both right and left wings in the country. “Dr. Ambedkar believed it was not enough if only political equality was provided to the weaker sections…they also needed social and economic equality,” he said.
