Sallu blocks Eid and Diwali in 2017
Kabir Khan and Rajkumar Santoshi are the directors to bring in the festival cheer.

Two years after a double whammy Salman Khan is gearing up to repeat history in 2017. Kabir Khan’s Eid release, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, went on to win the National Award for Best Entertainer while the Sooraj Barjatya’s Diwali dhamka, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, brought Prem back to the screen 17 years after Hum Saath Saath Hain. Now, Sallu has blocked both Eid and Diwali for next year with backto-back releases.

The 50-year-old-actor has given his nod to another Kabir Khan directed film which he is currently scripting and will open in Eid 2017. Since Wanted in 2009, Salman has been ruling the box-office on Eid. Dabbang (2010), Bodyguard (2011) and Ek Tha Tiger (2012) all crossed the Rs 100-crore milestone, with Kabir Khan’s espionage thriller, Tiger, just falling short of a double hundred, a shortfall made up by Kick two years later. This year too, his wrestling drama which opens during the festival has raised sky-high expectations in the trade.

The other film which will light up the marquee along with the Diwali fireworks is being co-produced by Salman, sister Alvira Khan and brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri. It will reunite him with Rajkumar Santoshi 22 years after their 1994 comic caper, Andaz Apna Apna.

“It will roll later this year but is not a sequel to Andaz Apna Apna. It is a completely different film, an action-comedy with Salman in the lead,” reveals a source close to the actor.
