Bhadradri temple structures to be redesigned

Efforts on to convert thoroughfares around the temple into Mada streets

April 14, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:36 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has ordered redesign of constructions at Bhadrachalam temple to suit the needs of pilgrims and also facilitate religious rituals.

Discussing the developmental works that could be taken up at the temple, Mr. Rao told an official meeting that the new design should take into consideration the bathing ghats on the Godavari bank near the temple and the interiors of the temple.

Free space

The temple premises should be vast enough for pilgrims to move around freely during pradakshana or other rituals.

The ‘kalyana mandap’ to perform the celestial wedding of Lord Rama on the occasion of Srirama Navami and take up other programmes of the temple should also be vast.

Keeping the present sanctum sanctorum intact, the facilities at the temple should be improved. Whether the temple precincts were sufficient or another one should be constructed should also be explored.

Mada streets

Mr. Rao asked the officials to examine if the thoroughfares around the temple could be converted into Mada streets.

All the temples along Godavari should be developed to upgrade existing facilities and also hold important festivals.

The meeting was attended by Endowments Minister A. Indrakaran Reddy, Stapathi Valli Nayakam, Chief Engineer of Endowments K. Venkateswarlu and temple authorities.

The Chief Minister despatched a ‘chadar’ along with a donation to the dargah at Ajmer in Rajasthan in connection with the ongoing festival there.
