MLA's nephew arrested for molestation

Varanasi: In a late drama near Samajwadi Party MLA Zahid Beg's house in Bhadohi on Monday, his nephew Shadab Beg was arrested. Shadab is allegedly accused of sexually assaulting a girl on April 8. Zahid claimed that he called the police after returning home from Mumbai and handed over Shadab to them.
Superintendent of police P K Mishra contradicted the MLA's claim and said that on getting information that Shadab is present in Zahid's house, police surrounded the place and arrested the accused.

On April 8, when a girl was returning home on her scooty, Shadab stopped and misbehaved with her. It is alleged that when the girl offered resistance, Shadab and his accomplices thrashed her and also tore her clothes. The girl was allegedly threatened by Shadab and others when she tried to go towards the police station. The girl contacted the police but after getting unsatisfactory response, she contacted the SP. Mishra ordered to lodged an FIR against Shadab and his accomplices. A case was registered against Shadab and two unidentified accomplices under Section 354 of IPC.
The SP said that during investigations, the allegations made by girl were found true. After that, the police started raiding the house of Shadab and other places from Saturday. Late on night, a heavy police force cordoned off the locality where the MLAs house is situated and arrested Shadab.
MLA Zahid Beg then convened a press conference and told reporters that Shadab is his nephew but his family had severed ties with him due to his unlawful activities.
He claimed that he came knew about the incident after returning home from Mumbai and called the police to hand over Shadab to them. Shadab was produced before the court on Tuesday and sent to jail on judicial remand.
