Mysuru: Students of government-run Maharani's Science College here shone the limelight at the 96th annual convocation of the University of Mysore. Apart from bagging more than 20 out of the 71 gold medals instituted by the University of Mysore's faculty of Science and Technology, the college secured 100% results in six post-graduate courses.
S Suma, who won 12 gold medals and three cash prizes under MSc chemistry category in the convocation, is from Maharani's Science College.

Among the 508 students who appeared for final exams in undergraduate and postgraduate streams, 444 students managed to clear the hurdle with 68 getting distinction, 271 first class and 61 second class.
The principal (incharge) of Maharani's Science College, M L Vijaya Kumari, was delighted with students' performance. "The credit goes to our dedicated staff and students. Over the past couple of years, students are coming out with good performance. There are around 2,500 students in the college; among them 370 are pursuing the six PG courses while the rest of them are under UG stream in 24 different combinations."
Maharani's Arts College too has done well. Among 3,641 students who appeared for BA UG courses, 1,744 students have managed to clear the exam with 36 distinctions.
The college, which is gearing up to celebrate its centenary next year, will start a PG course in physics next year with a batch strength of 24 students.
M L Vijaya Kumari, principal (incharge) of Maharani's Science College who was delighted with the students' performance, said, "The credit goes to dedicated staff and students. Over the past couple of years, the students are coming out with good performance."
Chamaraja MLA Vasu, who heads the college development council, assured all help for the students. "The students are really brilliant. For the welfare and progress of students, I am ready to provide any infrastructure to students."
