Erode: Four people were arrested for hurling petrol bombs at a house in Sathyamangalam in Erode district on Tuesday.
The accused were identified as S Vikky alias Vignesh, 25, V Ananthkumar, 23, P Sathieshkumar, 23 and K Mubarak alias Satham Hussain, 24. All four are residents of John Britto Colony in Sathyamangalam.
On Monday around 2.30am, petrol bombs were hurled at the house of R Ragavendiran, 23.
No one was injured in the attack, however a car that was parked outside the house caught fire and was completely gutted. Ragavendiran lodged a complaint with the Sathyamangalam police based on which they initiated an inquiry.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Ragavendiran had a personal enmity with Vignesh after a drunken brawl in 2015. "Both of them were involved in a drunk brawl at a Tasmac bar and Ragavendiran had stabbed Vignesh in the brawl," police said.
They further said that Vignesh was admitted to a government hospital in Sathyamangalam and had recovered from his injuries.
Vignesh had registered a case with the Sathyamangalam police for the same and investigation was underway. "Even though he filed a police complaint, Vignesh had decided to act on his own and take revenge against Ragavendiran," police said.
They added that Vignesh and his friends had confessed to have hurled the petrol bomb at Ragavendiran's house on Monday morning.
Based on the confession, the police registered a case against the four and arrested them on Tuesday morning. They were later produced before the Sathyamangalam sub-court and lodged at the Coimbatore Central Prison in judicial custody.
