Tuesday's Knicks Links: Another exit in early April weighs on Melo

Anthony weary of another season ending in early April: Carmelo Anthony hasn’t gone out of his way to give Kurt Rambis a ringing endorsement, but he wants to believe in something the Knicks’ interim coach said. Before falling to Toronto in Sunday’s regular-season home finale on Fan Appreciation Night, Rambis said, “We see this turning around real quick.” That sounds good to Anthony. -- Newsday

Phil Jackson needs to put ego aside, hire Tom Thibodeau as Knicks coach: The best thing Phil Jackson can do for James Dolan, Carmelo Anthony, Kristaps Porzingis and Knicks fans everywhere is to get on a plane Wednesday and head straight for Los Angeles. Maybe Dolan will be kind enough to drive Phil to the airport. If he won't, Carmelo will. -- New York Daily News

Rambis will be back next season (in some fashion): Whether Kurt Rambis is Knicks head coach for the last time Tuesday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse hasn’t been determined. What has been determined is Rambis will return in some capacity next season — whether as offensive coordinator or assistant general manager, according to sources. -- New York Post

Anthony clings to young hopes for bleak Knicks: Carmelo Anthony sounded sad but tried to put on a happy face regarding the disaster that ends Tuesday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The arena is the site of the Knicks’ last playoff game, three long years ago. This year’s Knicks were out of the playoff race by late February and will miss the postseason for a third straight year. -- New York Post

Job 1: Putting the Knicks Before the Coach: With another playoff-less season concluding in Indiana on Tuesday night, Phil Jackson has the always contentious chore of anointing yet another Knicks head coach. But before he dwells on who’s got next, he may well want to heed an experienced voice of the not-too-distant past. Before he decides on his next conductor, Jackson may want to have a better idea of who is going to be in the orchestra. -- The New York Times
