Leaders of the Makkal Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (MDMDK) including V.C. Chandhirakumar, S.R. Parthipan and C.H. Sekar met DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin on Monday and extended their support to the party in the elections.

“We have offered unconditional support to the DMK,” Mr. Chandhirakumar said.

As regards contesting in the election as part of the DMK alliance, Mr. Chandhirakumar said he and others would hold another round of meeting with the DMK leadership on Tuesday.

“We had expressed a desire to contest in the upcoming Assembly election but the DMK leadership felt we had come late. Still, they have agreed to consider our request,” he said. However, he added that contesting the election was not very important for them.

“The need of the hour is to unseat the AIADMK from power. Only the DMK can replace the ruling party,” said Mr. Chandhirakumar. Meanwhile, Mr. Stalin rejected the allegation that the DMK was controlling dissidents in the DMDK.
