Cops to oppose bail pleas in Jawalkar suicide case
Nagpur: Amravati rural police will oppose the anticipatory bail pleas of five top judicial officials of Yavatmal, who have been named in the suicide note of former civil judge senior division and additional chief judicial magistrate Anup Jawalkar, who ended his life under a train on March 6.
The judicial officials, including principal district judge Dr Shirasaw, chief judicial magistrate RP Deshpande and three others, were granted ad interim bail by a sessions court in Amravati last week in the case of abetment of suicide registered at Chandur Railway police.
The next hearing of confirming bail is scheduled on April 18. Though an accidental death case had been registered earlier, police were compelled to register abetment offences after Jawalkar’s suicide note was traced by his family members.
Senior PI Girish Bobade of Chandur Railway said that investigating team would consult legal experts and public prosecutors to prepare a report against the accused. “Police need to collect evidence of ingredients of harassment, which was mentioned in the suicide note. We need to collect evidence from court too,” said Bobade. “The focus would remain on various facts of harassment’s like show cause notices or memos being served on the deceased and comparatively to others,” he said.
PI Bobade also said that recording of statements of Jawalkar’s close family members is being done for evidence. “Police are also trying to find out whether the allegation of missing wallet is true,” he said.
