Arab Parliamentary Union (APU) has reiterated its support to measures taken by the UAE to regain sovereignty over its occupied islands of Abu Musa, Greater Tunb and Lesser Tunb.
In a statement issued at the end of its 23rd meeting in Cairo on Monday, the APU urged Iran to translate its desire to improve relations with the Arab countries into tangible steps by adopting peaceful means. It also suggested direct negotiations or by involving the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
The IPU urged Arab parliaments to ensure that the issue of the UAE's occupied islands is brought in all contacts with Iran at international parliamentary events, and to affirm the need to resolve that issue, based on the fact that the islands are occupied Arab territories. A delegation from the Federal National Council, headed by its Speaker Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, attended the IPU meetings.
